Hana Asano is the daughter of two immigrants from Japan who came to the United States in hopes of becoming jazz musicians. Growing up in Los Angeles, Hana has always had a strong love for imagery, sport and the moments in between. Her experiences as a collegiate athlete informed her understanding of the strength, power and vulnerability that sport provides on a daily basis. As a photographer she combines her passion for storytelling through sport and culture, examining each subject as an athlete and a human being. Hana’s eye for moments in time has garnered the attention of major sports brands and editorial publications, like Nike and ESPN, where she separates herself with her experience in sport, and ability to capture athletes immersed in their craft. Like her parents before her, Hana remains in search of adventure, good stories and a nice place to listen to live music.
